Everett Johnson W7TCA
Silent Key

Everett "Bud" Johnson passed away March 17, 2018 at the age of 90 years. Bud remained a "Ham" right up to the last day when he spoke a visitors ham call. Bud started learning code as a young child and devoted his whole adult life to promoting practical ham radio applications such as the Port Ludlow Amateur Radio Club, Port Ludlow Boater Net and Port Ludlow Emergency Network for North Bay.

Bud was a past president of the Port Ludlow ARC and was instrumental in obtaining permission to use the Sheriff's tower on Swansonville Rd. for the Club's repeater.

Bud's career included time aboard the Ticonderoga Aircraft Carrier setting up the Emmy nominated world wide broadcast of the Apollo 17 Splashdown and meeting Barry Goldwater. For more information about the Apollo 17 splashdown click here.

His family honored Bud's commitment to ham radio with a generous donation of $1000 to the Club's W. E. Whitney Engineering Scholarship fund. Educating a new generation of hams would be his greatest joy.
