Bill Bailey - WA1FKV, passed away January 19, 2014 due to complications with his battle with dementia.
Bill was born in the Panama Canal Zone in Balboa where he was raised and eventually went to work for the Canal as a Ships Signalman directing ship traffic into the canal. Later in his 20's he purchased a 36 foot double ender sail boat an left Panama for San Diego where he studied electronics. After a short time working repairing organs, Bill began his career with the County of San Diego in their electronics repair shop maintaining and installing radio equipment for 15 years.
His retirement in 1988 allowed Bill to start enjoying travel with his partner David. Together they enjoyed motorcycles, ham radio, and especially boating. Bill and David navigated their boat, Silver Fox to and from Sitka, Alaska. Bill's most remembered trip.
Later Bill and David sailed their land yacht around the country and wintered frequently in Yuma.
Bill is survived by his life partner David. At Bills request there will be no memorial.
