Bill Whitney (WOJO) WO7O - SK

The Port Ludlow Amateur Radio Club lost one of its founders January 10, 2015.

Bill a long time resident of the Toandos peninsula near Quilcene, WA was one of the PLARC founding fathers. His dedication and strong support helped the Club grow and become a regionally recognized organization.

Bill being a boater and a member of the Port Ludlow Yacht Club also created the North West Boater's Net. This net provides valuable communication links between boaters in the Pacific northwest. Boaters and non boaters check into the net every day at 8:30 am to receive weather reports, pass messages and seek help as needed.

Bill was a staunch supporter of Amateur Radio and served as Vice-Director for the ARRL Northwestern Division. Bill was generous with his time and would always help another ham where he could.

His wife Lu preceded Bill in death with Bill remarrying to Barbara Ricketts. His immediate surviving family includes his two sons and his daughter including four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

More information about Bill and his life is available at his web site toandos.com. The family has provided the Leader with a very well written memorial to Bill. I would encourage you to visit them both. Bill did not often talk about his life and these sites will give you a unique insight to Bill.
